## Content

## In Short
Coopbank has called its 22nd ordinary general shareholders’ meeting for October 17, 2026, in Adama. The agenda includes reviewing 2025/26 performance reports and deciding how net profit will be allocated and paid.

## What Happened
[Cooperative Bank of Oromia (Coopbank)](/coop-bank-oromia) published a notice on September 21, 2026, inviting shareholders to its 22nd ordinary general meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, starting at 2:00 pm local time.

The venue is Abba Gadaa Hall in Adama. The notice cites relevant provisions of Ethiopia’s Commercial Code and the bank’s founding documents as the basis for convening the meeting.

Coopbank stated that its signed and paid-up capital is ETB 12.8 billion. Signed capital is the amount shareholders have committed to buy, and paid-up capital is the amount they have already paid. In this case, both figures are the same.

On the agenda, shareholders are expected to approve the meeting agenda, admit new shareholders, and be notified about share transfers. They will also review and decide on the board of directors’ annual report for 2025/26, as well as the external auditors’ report for the same year.

Another key item is appointing external auditors for the 2026/27 year and setting their fees. Shareholders will also discuss board compensation, including the prior year’s annual payment and the coming year’s monthly allowances.

Finally, the meeting will consider how to allocate and distribute the bank’s net profit for 2025/26. Net profit is what remains after the bank pays all costs and taxes.

## Why It Matters
For shareholders, annual general meetings are where big governance decisions are formalised, from auditor appointments to profit distribution. For the broader Ethiopian banking market, disclosures around capital levels and audited performance reports can shape confidence, especially as banks compete for deposits and lending growth.

The notice also sets tighter participation rules. It restricts board members and bank employees from representing shareholders, and it caps proxy voting power at 10% of the bank’s signed capital, including the proxy holder’s own shares. That is meant to limit concentration of voting influence in a single representative.
