## Content

## In Short
- [Cleva](/cleva) has launched GBP and EUR receiving accounts for eligible users.
- Users get dedicated account details to receive payments in British Pounds and Euros.
- Incoming GBP or EUR is automatically converted to USD and credited to the user’s USD balance.
- Deposits to Nigeria carry a 0.8% fee, with a $2 minimum and $10 maximum.

## What Happened
Cleva says eligible users can now receive GBP and EUR payments using dedicated account details. That matters for freelancers, remote workers, and businesses paid by UK or EU clients who prefer local transfers.

These are receiving accounts, not extra wallet balances. In practice, a sender can pay you in pounds or euros, but you will not hold a GBP or EUR balance inside the app.

When a payment lands, Cleva automatically converts the amount to USD and credits your USD balance. Users can also see the original currency, conversion details, and the transaction record in their account history.

Cleva also notes a naming quirk for GBP transfers. The GBP account is not provisioned in the user’s personal name right now, and the beneficiary name may show as “Bridge Building”. The company says users should share the exact account details shown in-app to avoid failed payments.

To get started, users request a GBP or EUR account inside Cleva. Provisioning may take some time, and the account details only show once the account has been created.

## Why It Matters
For African users paid internationally, “local receiving accounts” are a common workaround for expensive wires. They let overseas clients pay like a normal domestic bank transfer, instead of sending an international transfer.

Cleva’s auto-conversion to USD reduces manual steps, but it also means users are exposed to the platform’s FX rate at the time of conversion. Anyone budgeting in GBP or EUR should be aware they will always end up holding USD after the transfer.

Fees still matter too. If you cash out to Nigeria, the 0.8% deposit fee, within the $2 to $10 range, becomes part of the effective cost of getting paid.
