## Content

## In Short
Commercial International Bank (CIB) has marked 30 years since listing on the London Stock Exchange. The bank says the milestone reflects its long-running focus on transparency and global investor access.

## What Happened
Commercial International Bank (CIB) announced on October 7, 2026 that it has been listed on the London Stock Exchange for 30 years.

CIB said it first listed in 1996 through a Global Depositary Receipt, or GDR, program. A GDR is a certificate that lets investors buy shares in a company from another country without trading directly on the local exchange.

At the time, CIB said it became the first Egyptian company to offer its shares on international markets via this route. The bank noted that the London listing helped it reach investors who could not invest directly in Egypt.

CIB also pointed to its domestic position. It said it is a blue-chip stock in Egypt and the largest constituent on the Egyptian Exchange. Blue-chip generally means a large, well-established company that investors see as relatively stable.

In comments included in the announcement, CEO Hisham Ezz Al-Arab said the listing on a major global market shows the institution’s long-term focus and resilience. He also described CIB as a bridge between Egypt and international markets.

## Why It Matters
For Egyptian banks and listed companies, access to foreign capital often depends on meeting global standards for governance, disclosure, and reporting. CIB framed its London Stock Exchange presence as a signal of these standards to international investors.

The update is also a reminder of how cross-border listings can shape market perception. CIB said investors and analysts often use its shares as a proxy for the Egyptian market, which can influence how global funds track and allocate exposure to Egypt.

More broadly, the announcement reflects a continuing push by African financial institutions to deepen international investor engagement, even as local exchanges grow in size and activity.
