## Content

## In Short
Chimoney has a new owner.

CapitalSage Vantage Limited, a subsidiary of CapitalSage Holdings, has completed an all-cash acquisition of Chimoney.

Chimoney has resumed onboarding clients and processing payments. Its consumer app is back under a new name, Tiki.

## What Happened
Chimoney, a Nigerian-founded payments startup, was acquired by CapitalSage Vantage Limited after a five-month shutdown period.

In May, Chimoney told customers it was out of capital and stopped processing new transactions and integrations. Integrations are the technical connections that let businesses plug a payment tool into their product.

Founder Uchi Uchibeke said the buyer acquired Chi Technologies Inc., the company behind Chimoney. He also said all investors were repaid in full and the team received its proceeds from the transaction.

Uchibeke said 31 individuals and firms received payments tied to the deal. The companies did not disclose the acquisition price.

After the shutdown announcement, CapitalSage signed an agreement to buy the business about four weeks later. The transaction has now closed.

## Why It Matters
For customers and merchants, the immediate story is continuity. Chimoney says it is accepting clients again and processing payments, which reduces the risk of stranded balances and broken payout flows.

For founders and investors, the deal is a reminder that “shutdown” in fintech does not always mean liquidation. An all-cash acquisition can still deliver repayments, even after operations pause, but the details matter, including timelines, customer refunds, and what happens to the product roadmap.

The relaunch of Chimoney’s consumer app as Tiki also signals a narrower focus. Tiki is positioned as a remittance service for users in Canada and the UK, which suggests the new owners are prioritising cross-border money transfers, rather than a broad consumer payments app.

More broadly, this is another example of consolidation in African fintech, where stronger balance sheets can absorb distressed payment startups and restart core infrastructure like payment processing and merchant integrations.
