## Content

## In Short
Chimoney has confirmed its acquisition is complete. The deal paid out 31 investors and team members. Founder Uchi Nick Uchibeke is moving on to build APort, an AI agent security platform.

## What Happened
Chimoney, a payments infrastructure company, said the acquisition has officially closed.

Chimoney provides payment rails, meaning the behind-the-scenes tools and APIs (software connectors) that let businesses send, receive, and manage money.

According to the report, 31 individuals and firms received proceeds from the transaction. Chimoney’s investors and team members were paid out, closing the company’s current chapter.

Uchibeke is now focused on APort, a new venture targeting AI agent security. AI agents are software systems that can take actions on their own, like clicking buttons, moving funds, or merging code, instead of only answering questions.

APort is being built to introduce explicit permission controls for these agents. Put simply, it is meant to help companies define what an AI agent is allowed to do, even if it technically has access to a tool.

Uchibeke summed up the risk as, “An agent having access to a tool does not mean it has permission to use it however it chooses.”

## Why It Matters
As African fintechs and global platforms embed AI into customer support, fraud checks, engineering, and operations, more systems will shift from “recommendations” to “actions.” That raises the chance of costly mistakes and security incidents.

In sensitive environments like payment systems and code repositories, a single wrong action can mean fraud, data loss, or downtime. Traditional access control often assumes a human user, not an automated agent that can act at machine speed.

Tools like APort point to a growing market for guardrails, audit trails, and permissioning for AI-driven workflows. For startups building on payment rails, it also signals a new layer of security and compliance that may become standard.
