## Content

## In Short
Chekkit is positioning ChekTrace as a way to close Nigeria’s supply chain visibility gap.

## What Happened
[Chekkit](/chekkit), a Nigerian technology company focused on product verification and traceability, says ChekTrace is designed to extend visibility beyond the factory floor.

The company says businesses often lose sight of goods after they leave the factory gate, where deliveries can stall, arrive short, or end up in markets they were not meant for. It says poor visibility can make it hard to separate normal logistics failures from theft, and can reduce control over inventory, distribution partners, and revenue.

ChekTrace uses GS1 standard serialisation, which means assigning unique identities to products so they can be tracked across distribution networks. Instead of treating a consignment as one shipment, ChekTrace creates records for individual units and links them to larger batches, cases, and pallets.

Chekkit says manufacturers can use the platform to capture checkpoint events, monitor product movements, record handovers, and view shipment information through a central dashboard.

The platform also supports alerts for suspicious activity, including products showing up outside authorised distribution routes. Chekkit says its system can generate live views of batch journeys, estimated arrival times, and customs status, alongside records for regulatory reporting.

## Why It Matters
Chekkit frames ChekTrace as part of a broader push for traceability, which can help with accountability in supply chains. It also points to manufacturer and consumer concerns about authenticity and provenance, especially in industries like pharmaceuticals and food, where traceability is linked to product safety as well as commercial performance.
