## What Happened
[Cashwyre](/cashwyre) is now available as a Mini App on Fedi, a chat-style wallet app that can host small add-on services inside it.

With this Mini App, users can pay for everyday transactions across Africa using bitcoin, even when the recipient does not accept crypto. Cashwyre converts the crypto amount into fiat, meaning government-issued money like naira or cedi.

Cashwyre says it supports settlement in 20 African currencies, including the Nigerian naira, Ghanaian cedi, and Kenyan shilling. Users can pay using bitcoin onchain, meaning a normal Bitcoin transfer recorded on the blockchain, or via the Lightning Network, meaning a faster and cheaper Bitcoin payment rail. The Mini App also supports stablecoins like USDT and USDC, which are crypto tokens designed to track the US dollar.

On the recipient side, payouts can go to bank accounts or mobile money accounts, depending on the market. For users, this turns bitcoin holdings into a practical payment option for bills, merchant payments, and transfers to friends and family.

Cashwyre also offers APIs, meaning software connectors that businesses can plug into their own apps. This allows other fintechs and merchants to build bitcoin-to-fiat and stablecoin-to-fiat payment flows using Cashwyre’s rails.

A lot of crypto activity in Africa still ends at buying and holding. The hard part is spending, especially when most merchants price in local currency and prefer bank transfers or mobile money.

By bundling conversion and local payout inside a Mini App, Cashwyre reduces steps for users. It also puts crypto-powered payments closer to where people already spend time, inside messaging and wallet apps.

For businesses, Cashwyre’s APIs can shorten the path to launching cross-border and multi-currency payout features without building local banking connections country by country.
