## Content

## In Short
Britam Asset Managers has launched two new special funds in Kenya. The funds are designed to give local investors access to global equities and broader diversification.

## What Happened
Britam Asset Managers, part of [Britam](/britam), announced on October 8, 2026 that it has launched the Britam Enhanced Global Equities Special Fund and the Britam Multi Asset Special Fund.

The Capital Markets Authority, Kenya’s markets regulator, approved both products in August. Britam said the funds target investors who want long term growth and diversification, meaning spreading money across different markets and asset types to reduce risk.

The Britam Enhanced Global Equities Special Fund focuses on listed shares outside Kenya. Britam said it aims to give investors exposure to global companies and themes such as technology and artificial intelligence, healthcare and life sciences, energy, and the digital economy.

The Britam Multi Asset Special Fund takes a mix-and-match approach. It can invest across local and global asset classes such as equities, fixed income, and commodities, all inside one portfolio. Fixed income generally refers to interest-paying securities like bonds.

Britam positioned the launch as part of a wider expansion beyond local markets. The company said Kenya’s collective investment scheme assets reached KSh948.7 billion in June, citing the regulator, up 59.1% year on year. Britam Asset Managers said it manages more than KSh300 billion, and leads the local fixed income category with over KSh55 billion in assets as of July.

## Why It Matters
For Kenyan retail and institutional investors, global investing has often meant using offshore brokers, diaspora accounts, or limited local products. Regulated special funds can offer a simpler route, with professional management and local oversight.

For the asset management market, the launch signals rising competition around cross-border exposure, thematic equities, and multi-asset portfolios. That could push more product variety as investor appetite grows beyond domestic bonds and listed shares.
