## What Happened
Andela announced on September 9, 2026 that it has been named an OpenAI Select Partner within the OpenAI Partner Network. The OpenAI Partner Network is a program that supports companies that build, sell, and deliver AI solutions using OpenAI models.

As part of the partnership, [Andela](/andela) said it will continue working with OpenAI to help organizations build, deploy, and scale AI solutions responsibly and effectively. “Deploy” here means putting an AI system into live use, not just testing it.

Andela highlighted a few OpenAI products it plans to support in customer work. These include GPT-5.6, which is a newer large language model (software that predicts and generates text and code). They also include Codex, a coding assistant for developers, and ChatGPT Work, positioned as a tool to move from plans to finished deliverables.

The company said it works with more than 650 enterprises across North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. It named GitHub, Mastercard, and WPP as examples.

For African tech, Andela’s Select Partner status is a signal that global enterprise AI demand is shifting from access to execution. Many firms can buy model access, but they still struggle to redesign workflows, measure ROI, and ship safe production systems.

Andela says its enterprise work will cover four areas: improving “agentic” fluency with Codex, activating high value AI workflows, adding OpenAI fluent engineering capacity, and delivering OpenAI native solutions from roadmap to production. “Agentic” tools are AI systems that can take steps toward a goal, like a junior assistant following instructions, rather than only answering a single prompt.

If Andela can standardize this delivery playbook, it may also raise expectations for AI services firms across Africa competing for global enterprise budgets.
