## What Happened
KwaraETF says it is partnering with [AlumUnite](/alumunite) to run the Lafiagi Education Matching Fund, a community-led fundraising drive to transform Lafiagi Secondary School.

The Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji (Dr.) Mohammed Kudu Kawu, has pledged ₦20 million on behalf of the community. KwaraETF described the pledge as the first major commitment in the pilot.

The matching structure is designed to stretch donations. For every ₦2 donated by supporters, ₦1 is released from the matching pool. If the campaign hits its ₦40 million target, the first phase creates an initial ₦60 million project fund.

KwaraETF said the first beneficiary is Lafiagi Secondary School, established in 1970. The school has faced infrastructure needs, and the community picked it as the immediate priority.

AlumUnite is providing the digital infrastructure for the campaign, including fundraising tools, donor engagement, and campaign management. In plain terms, it is the software layer that helps collect donations, track progress, and communicate with supporters.

## Why It Matters
Public school upgrades in Nigeria often rely on government budgets that can be slow or unpredictable. A matching fund model gives communities a way to prove local commitment first, then pull in more money from alumni networks and private donors.
