## What Happened
Allianz Commercial has named Emma Woolley as President, Global Specialty and UK Region. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

In this role, Woolley will run Allianz Commercial’s Global Specialty lines and oversee the UK market. Specialty insurance is cover for complex risks, like marine, aviation, or large corporate liabilities, where underwriting needs deep expertise.

Woolley will also join the board of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, the legal entity that sits behind Allianz Commercial. She will report to Allianz Commercial CEO Thomas Lillelund.

Allianz said Woolley will start after she completes her current professional commitments, and no later than February 2027. The company also described the appointment as effective February 1, 2026, which creates a timing mismatch between the announcement date and the stated effective date.

Woolley is joining from AIG Talbot Underwriting, where she is CEO of AIG’s Lloyd’s specialty platform. Lloyd’s is a London-based insurance marketplace where many insurers and syndicates underwrite risks together.

Her background includes roles as Global Head of Marine at AIG, CEO of Lancashire Syndicates, and leadership positions at Canopius Group, Swiss Re, and BMS Group.
