## Content

## In Short
- ALEXBANK has received two 2026 retail banking awards.
- Euromoney named it “Egypt’s Best Retail Bank”.
- The Digital Banker named it “Best Retail Bank, Egypt”.

## What Happened
ALEXBANK said it was recognised in 2026 by Euromoney and The Digital Banker for its retail banking performance in Egypt. The bank is part of Intesa Sanpaolo Group.

In its update, [ALEXBANK](/alexbank) pointed to strong customer growth, expanded digital services and stronger advisory activities. “Advisory” here means staff and tools that help customers choose products like savings, loans, and cards based on their needs.

The bank said it now serves more than 1.8 million customers through over 175 branches. It also highlighted scale on the operations side, with more than 4,200 employees.

ALEXBANK shared performance metrics for 2025. It said it added more than 220,000 new retail customers, its best annual acquisition so far. Retail assets reached EGP 39.2 billion, up 17% year on year, and deposits reached EGP 150.6 billion, up 30%.

## Why It Matters
Retail banking awards are not just trophies, they can help a bank shape perception with customers, regulators, and partners. In a competitive market like Egypt, third-party recognition can support customer acquisition and retention.

The numbers also show where the market is moving. ALEXBANK said 57% of customers use internet and mobile banking, and 89% of deposits are opened through digital channels. “Digital channels” means customers can open and manage accounts in an app or website instead of visiting a branch.

For founders and operators, this is another signal that Egyptian banks are prioritising digital onboarding, card usage and app-led service delivery. That can create more room for partnerships in payments, lending distribution and consumer finance, especially where banks want faster product rollouts without rebuilding their core systems.
