## Content

## In Short
- Africhange has received an International Money Transfer Operator licence in Ghana.
- The licence lets it send money directly into Ghana under regulator oversight.
- It joins a busy remittance market where speed, FX rates, and fees decide winners.

## What Happened
[Africhange](/africhange) says it has been approved by Ghanaian regulators to operate as an International Money Transfer Operator, or IMTO. An IMTO is a licence that allows a remittance company to move money into a country under central bank rules.

With the IMTO approval, Africhange can send money directly into Ghana instead of routing transfers through intermediaries. Intermediaries are middlemen that help complete payouts locally, but they can add extra fees and delays.

Africhange says the Ghana licence supports its plan to build services tailored to Ghanaians and the diaspora. The company highlighted competitive exchange rates, clear pricing, reliable delivery, and customer support as its focus.

Founder and CEO David Ajala said the goal is to make cross-border transfers simple, secure, and fairly priced for families and businesses connected across borders.

## Why It Matters
Remittances remain a major source of household income in West Africa. For many families, money sent home pays for essentials like school fees, rent, and medical bills. When transfer fees are high or exchange rates are unclear, the value that arrives can drop sharply.

For Africhange, direct licensing can improve control over the end-to-end transfer flow. That can help it move faster on new payout options, pricing changes, and product updates for Ghana.

The Ghana approval also signals how regulators are shaping the market. Across the region, licensing requirements and capital rules are rising, which can push smaller operators out, even as demand for digital remittance apps grows.

Africhange has not disclosed the commercial terms or capital commitment tied to the Ghana licence.

## What To Watch In Ghana Remittances
Watch for how Africhange prices Ghana corridors from key diaspora markets like the US, the UK, and Europe. Also watch payout reliability, customer support response times, and whether the company partners with local banks or mobile money networks for faster delivery.
